From 22 to 25 April 2026, South African Fashion Week (SAFW) returns with a renewed sense of purpose, reaffirming its position as the country’s only dedicated B2B platform for designers and a key driver of the local fashion economy.
Following a strategic pause, SAFW didn’t go quiet. Instead, it leaned into digital, rolling out targeted campaigns that kept designers visible and collections in circulation. One standout October activation delivered strong engagement, with each designer achieving an average advertising value equivalent of around R1.27 million.
This season, SAFW is expanding beyond the traditional runway. The week will open on 22 April at Cirk with a headline moment from Gert-Johan Coetzee, whose Behind The Crimson Door promises a theatrical blend of couture, aerial performance, and storytelling.
A major new partnership also enters the picture. Media group Primedia has joined forces with SAFW, bringing platforms like 947, 702, and Primedia+ into the fold. The collaboration signals a wider push to amplify South African design on a national scale, connecting fashion to culture, commerce, and conversation.
The main showcase will unfold at VRTUOSUS, a state-of-the-art film studio in Hyde Park, Johannesburg, marking a shift toward a more contemporary, production-driven presentation format.

Day one will open with Helen Gibbs’s Helon Melon collection, rooted in sustainability and full traceability, followed by a dual showcase featuring Jacques van der Watt’s Black Coffee and its exploration of imperfection, alongside Naked Ape by Shaldon Kopman, delivering a grounded, reflective take on everyday beauty and presence.
Day two will continue with a multi-designer lineup that highlights both emerging and established voices. Zamaswazi to lead with a menswear collection shaped by years of steady growth, followed by Irene Makhavhu Designs, a brand that has successfully bridged retail and design. Ephymol will close the segment with a bold, unapologetic perspective on identity and authenticity in fashion.
The energy will continue into The Collection by J.C. Le Roux, where celebration meets craftsmanship. sinCHUI’s Robyn Agulhas will represent a new wave of menswear, while Something Good Studio will be introducing Romaria, a cross-continental concept blending Johannesburg and Porto through knitwear and textile design. Craig Jacobs’s Fundudzi will close the day with a circular collection that rethinks sustainability through design.
The final day will open with House of Olé, presenting Africa-inspired wearable art rooted in self-expression and cultural storytelling. The week will then turn its focus to emerging talent, spotlighting the Scouting Menswear Competition finalists alongside 2024 winner Undefined Outdoor Clothing; highlighting the next generation shaping South African fashion.
Designers including Anunes, Emelia D, Victori, and On Duty Jeans to bring fresh perspectives across tailoring, texture, and functional design, reinforcing SAFW’s role as both incubator and industry platform. Backed by sponsors including Primedia, J.C. Le Roux, Magnum, Carlton Hair, and NARS Cosmetics, this season reflects a broader understanding of fashion’s cultural and economic impact for SAFW.
