Tory Burch Spring 2025 Ready-to-Wear: Sport and Elegance Collide at NYFW

In a striking transformation of the Domino Sugar Factory, now officially Skylight at the Refinery, Tory Burch brought her Spring 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection to life in a setting that was both industrial and aquatic. The venue, with its walls and floors covered in aqua tiles, felt like a blend of an underwater escape and a high-rise oasis—a fitting backdrop for a collection that balanced opposing forces of power and grace, precision and freedom.

Backstage, Burch spoke about these contrasts, hinting at a possible influence from the Olympics, which seems to have infused the collection with a sporty edge. However, this wasn’t just a nod to her Tory Sport line, launched six years ago. Instead, Burch explored the aesthetics of sport, infusing her designs with athletic undertones while maintaining a focus on elegance and sophistication.

The runway was graced with a mix of athletic-inspired pieces, from tank bathing suits paired with drawstring waist karate pants to jersey dresses featuring contrasting shoulder panels reminiscent of American football uniforms. Even the more understated pieces carried a hint of sport, like the stretch wool gauze shirts with stripes that evoked the spirit of global football.

A standout in the collection was the use of malleable wire waistbands on skirts, which curved outward rather than clinging to the body—a daring move in a world where the waistline is often seen as a focal point for slimming. These skirts were paired with narrow flecked wool pants that draped elegantly over peep-toe pumps, styled with both shrunken quilted jackets and more traditional wrap jackets.

The collection culminated in a series of looks that perfectly encapsulated Burch’s theme of "power and grace," featuring sleeveless muscle tees paired with softly draped and ruffled asymmetric jersey chiffon skirts. These closing pieces were a testament to Burch's ability to blend athleticism with high fashion.

Perhaps the boldest statement of the show was the reintroduction of the Reva Ballet Flat, a shoe that launched Tory Burch into the fashion stratosphere years ago. With peekaboo logo Ts at the toes, Burch is betting on a resurgence of this iconic shoe, aiming to bring it back into the fashion fold.

The Spring 2025 collection not only celebrated the spirit of sport but also honored the legacy of Tory Burch’s brand. The show attracted an impressive array of guests, including fashion royalty like Anna Wintour and Hollywood stars such as Michelle Williams, Elizabeth Olsen, and Jodie Turner-Smith, all of whom watched as Burch’s vision for the season unfolded in a venue that echoed the collection's themes of movement, freedom, and precision.

In the end, Burch’s Spring 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection was a masterclass in blending nostalgia with innovation, proving once again why Tory Burch remains a formidable force in the fashion industry.
