Sustainability is no longer a side note in fashion, it’s the future. Across South Africa, a new wave of designers is reshaping what it means to create with purpose and the Twyg Sustainable Fashion Awards remain one of the most important platforms celebrating that shift.
Now in its sixth year, the awards recognise the visionaries driving change in how fashion is made, worn, and reimagined. From small ateliers experimenting with recycled textiles to established names integrating circular design into their collections, the awards honour creativity that puts the planet and people first.
Entries for the 2025 edition close at midnight on Sunday, 12 October 2025, giving designers, innovators, and changemakers only a few days left to submit their work. Winners will share R100,000 in prize money and be featured in Twyg’s new online directory, which spotlights the work of previous winners and finalists.

This year introduces a refreshed panel of judges drawn from across South Africa and abroad, bringing together leading voices from sustainability, design, climate innovation, and media. The award categories have also been updated to reflect the evolving landscape of responsible fashion, placing a stronger focus on regenerative design, ethical craftsmanship, and innovative use of materials.
Founded by journalist and sustainability advocate Jackie May, Twyg has become a cornerstone of South Africa’s conscious fashion movement. The awards don’t just celebrate good design, they spotlight ideas that inspire the industry to think differently about consumption, production, and cultural impact.
