Nintendo Expands the Splatoon Universe with Splatoon Raiders

Nintendo is pushing the Splatoon franchise in a new direction with the upcoming release of Splatoon Raiders, a single-player focused action shooter designed to welcome both long-time fans and newcomers.

Set across the mysterious Spirhalite Islands, the game places players in the role of a mechanic tasked with navigating high-stakes raids, salvaging loot and uncovering the secrets of a new frontier within the Splatoon universe.

Unlike previous entries that leaned heavily on multiplayer, Splatoon Raiders introduces a more narrative-driven experience. Players can customise both their appearance and loadout, combining mechanical gadgets with the series’ signature ink-based weaponry.

Combat centres around taking down waves of Salmonids, while completing raids and collecting resources needed to progress through the game’s evolving environments.

Joining players on this adventure are Deep Cut, the fan-favourite trio made up of Frye, Shiver and Big Man.

Each character plays an active role, with one member accompanying players in raids as a powerful support bot. Their presence adds both narrative continuity and a familiar layer of personality to the new title.

While the game leans into single-player storytelling, it does not abandon co-op play entirely. Players can team up with up to three others online or via local wireless connection, offering flexibility for those who still want a shared experience.

To coincide with the release, Deep Cut amiibo featuring updated designs for Frye, Shiver and Big Man will be made available, expanding the collectible side of the franchise.

Pre-orders for Splatoon Raiders are now live on the Nintendo eShop, with the game set to launch on 23 July 2026.
