Sony has successfully concluded its groundbreaking Alpha Femme event, setting a new benchmark for empowering women in photography, filmmaking, and content creation. The three-day gathering, held from 19–21 September, delivered on its promise to educate, connect, and inspire female creators through hands-on workshops, networking opportunities, and business development sessions.
Bringing together leading photographers, filmmakers, and content creators, Alpha Femme was carefully designed to address both the creative and commercial needs of women in the industry. Its success lay in a holistic approach that combined technical training with business insight, while fostering genuine collaboration within the creative community.
The programme featured industry leaders who shared expertise across key areas of creative entrepreneurship:
Kayla led an insightful session on financial management for creatives, equipping attendees with essential money-handling skills.
Nelisiwe Mwase delivered a masterclass on brand growth through social media, offering practical strategies for building an online presence.
Renowned wildlife photographer Karolina Noree shared her technical process and creative approach to nature photography.
Fathima Nakooda explored the business of content creation, helping attendees navigate sustainability in the creator economy.
Saadiya unpacked brand collaborations, focusing on the strategic role of creatives in partnership development.
“Alpha Femme represents Sony’s unwavering commitment to championing female talent in the creative industries,” said Jobin Joejoe, Managing Director of Sony Middle East and Africa. “We’re witnessing a powerful shift in the creative landscape, and this initiative provides the platform these talented women deserve; fostering a community that will continue to grow long after the event concludes.”
Over three days, the event buzzed with collaboration over competition, mentorship over gatekeeping. From sunrise shoots to evening networking sessions, Alpha Femme created an environment where women uplifted one another while refining their creative and business skills.
“Alpha Femme reminded me why I fell in love with photography in the first place, while giving me the business tools to make it sustainable,” shared Nelisiwe Mwase. “The combination of technical skills and business acumen, delivered in such a supportive environment, has equipped me with a comprehensive toolkit for the next chapter of my career.”

As female voices continue to redefine visual culture, Sony’s investment in creators like those at Alpha Femme feels both timely and essential. The initiative underscored the ripple effect of empowering women, strengthening not only individual careers but the creative ecosystem as a whole.
The future of visual storytelling is being written by voices that were once sidelined and Sony is making it clear they’re backing the authors.
