And dare we say - here to stay. Celebrities like Cindy Crawford and Pamela Anderson first popularised this flirty hairstyle, followed by the iconic Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows where most of the models had beautifully bouncy blowouts. Now with the Dyson Airwrap on the market, blowouts are more popularised among the masses and easier to achieve than ever.

The use of the keyword “blowout” has increased by double in the past two years on pinterest, and young women especially are interested in recreating this effortless looking hairstyle. The good news? You don’t need a Hollywood glam squad to achieve the look. With the right tips and tools like a round brush and hair dryer or a dyson, you can steal these stunning styles and give yourself that red-carpet-worthy blowout from the comfort of your own home.

1. Sabrina Carpenter

We had to start off strong with the hair queen of the moment - Sabrina Carpenter. She has amazing music and the cutest outfits but her hair is often the main focus on social media and has become a signature for the artist. Her thick baby blonde locks and fringe are always styled perfectly and stays in place for every performance. Rumour has it that she wears a wig on stage - this might be to give her own hair a break from heat and styling. Blonde hair, especially, can get very dry and damaged so it's important not to over-style it.

In order to get Sabrina’s full blowout look, it could be helpful to use a root lifting spray to create volume on the top of the head. To add more volume overall, some tape in or clip in extensions would look amazing and make the hair look full and healthy. After blow drying your hair with a medium size brush, go over some pieces with a medium curling iron to create more volume and movement. Brush out the curls afterwards and you are ready to go!

2. Hailey Bieber

Hailey Bieber is such a style icon. When she started wearing her natural hair colour and cut her hair, half of the Gen Z and Millennial girls were following in her footsteps. Here we have a more subtle blowout, yet, still voluminous with shape. Blowouts are amazing for short hair because it’s so quick and easy to style while leaving the hair looking smooth and shiny.

To recreate this ‘Hailey Bieber Textured Bob’, it’s best to use a medium round brush and a hairdryer. Quick dry your hair upside down until it’s at least 80% dry. Then section your hair into pieces. Start from the bottom up and start blow drying the sections. Keep the curl on the round brush for a few seconds when you get to your ends. When you’re done, spray a texture spray and shake the hair around with your fingertips.

If you want even more volume, section your hair and pin it into rollers. Let it sit in the rollers for at least 20 minutes to cool down and set the curls before you take them out. Use a strong hairspray to keep your volume lasting all day.

4. Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez is such a style icon and her hair seems to always be set perfectly in place. She is known for her strong performances and golden caramel locks. In 2020, Jeniffer Lopez performed at the Super Bowl LIV halftime show, and even though it’s four years later, her hair from the show is still a Pinterest inspiration for us blowout lovers. JLo’s hair stylist, Chris Appleton, even filmed a YouTube video on how to recreate her hair from the Super Bowl. However, Chris Appleton surprisingly shares that JLo’s curls for the event were a “mistake”. Even though he and Jennifer wanted looser curls, the public absolutely loved the hair!

He explains that he blow waves the hair first, then curls it with a small curling iron, mixing some pieces in with a bigger curling iron and pins it into place to set the curls. He then brushes out all the curls thoroughly, sections the hair into pieces and adds rows of clip-in extensions. Finally, he teases the roots a little bit and adds hairspray to keep it all in place.

Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez have one thing in common - amazing hair! This is thanks to their pro hairstylist, Chris Appleton. He styles and colours Kim’s hair to perfection every time. Kim loves her blowouts, especially when she has extra long hair. We can find lots of pictures of Kim with a smooth bombshell blowout in recent years.

The best way to achieve this look, is to add some layers and length to your hair. Layers will make the curls look more feathery and can create more movement and volume. Tape in extensions are a great option when you want extra long hair, and Kim herself uses tape in extensions for hairstyles like this. Use a medium round brush and hairdryer to create shape, then go over the ends with a medium sized curling iron to keep the curls lasting the whole day.

6. Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa has dyed her hair a bright cherry red since October 2023 and we are in love! In the past few days she has been posting pictures on Instagram with her natural dark brown locks, but we hope that we’ll see a comeback of the pop of colour. We usually see this pop star with crimped waves, but she surprised us with a smooth blowout at the 77th British Academy Film Awards. The blowout she had was simple, elegant and less complicated to style than some of the previous blowouts we’ve looked at.

To recreate this look, use a medium to large round brush with a hair dryer and start working it through the hair in sections. Since Dua is wearing a side part here, it requires a bit more volume at the top. Make sure to spray a root spray at the roots of your fringe and for more hold, keep only the fringe in a roller.

7. Beyonce

At the 2024 Super Bowl, Beyonce stunned guests with her new platinum mane. Unlike her usual tight curls, this style is looser and flirtier, while still being the definition of ‘Big Hair’. It might remind us of Dolly Parton, especially because Beyonce is dabbling in the country genre.

This style requires a lot of volume, so make sure to spray a root lifting spray and add a volumising mousse throughout your hair. Blow wave your hair and start curling it in sections with a medium sized curler. Tease your hair at the roots with a comb and spray hairspray on each section. Let the curls set for 10 minutes before brushing everything out thoroughly.
