The Unveiling of New Age Spirituality: The Rise and Glorification of Ungodliness

The world we live in today is utterly shameless. The media, entertainment industry, and even celebrities are actively promoting practices that stand in direct opposition to God’s truth. What was once viewed as forbidden and occultic is now celebrated as trendy, glamorous, and inspiring. The rise of New Age spirituality, witchcraft, and occult practices in mainstream culture is undeniable—and the alarming part is that many do not even see the danger in it.

It started subtly. Many of us grew up watching shows like That’s So Raven, where psychic abilities were depicted as fun and cool. Other programs, from Charmed to Sabrina the Teenage Witch, presented witches as powerful, independent, and heroic figures. Instead of warning against these practices, pop culture made them desirable. And now, in 2025, we are seeing the full effects of this normalisation.

The use of crystals, manifestation, meditation, and energy vibrations has become a part of everyday conversation. Celebrities proudly showcase their spiritual rituals, burning sage, consulting tarot cards, and using healing powders. It’s no longer hidden—people wear their involvement in new age spirituality like a badge of honor.

The Dangerous Rise of New Age Spirituality

There was a time when consulting mediums, psychics, and astrologers was considered occultic and dangerous. Now, these practices are widely accepted, with millions of people following daily horoscopes, believing in numerology, and trusting the universe rather than the Creator of the universe. What was once done in secret is now paraded on social media, with influencers and celebrities boasting about their spiritual journeys, complete with spirit guides and moon rituals.

The rise of new age practices—including astrology, tarot readings, palm readings, and the belief in spirit guides—is a direct contradiction to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Yet, people have been deceived into thinking these practices are harmless. The Bible clearly warns against these things:

"There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord..." (Deuteronomy 18:10-12, KJV)

Despite this clear warning, the media continues to glorify witchcraft. People turn to the stars and the universe instead of turning to God. They believe that rocks and energies can guide them, ignoring the truth that only Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).

Celebrities and the Influence of the Occult

Celebrities have played a massive role in pushing this agenda. Many have been seen carrying crystals, performing sage rituals, and even openly practicing witchcraft. These aren’t just personal beliefs—they are being shared with millions of fans who look up to them. The "What’s in My Bag?" segment, featured in Vogue has revealed countless celebrities carrying tarot cards, healing crystals, and mystical powders, further pushing these ideas onto their impressionable followers.

As a result, the worship and belief in the following practices have become widely accepted with no shame:

Mediums and spiritism
Occult rituals
Psychic readings
Horoscopes and astrology
Tarot cards and fortune-telling
Numerology and palm reading

What many fail to understand is that all of these practices fall under witchcraft. They are not innocent, and God is against them. These trends are not just about self-discovery or enlightenment; they are a direct rebellion against the truth of God’s word.

We are in a time when evil is being called good and good is being called evil (Isaiah 5:20). As believers, we must stand firm against the deception of new age spirituality and the glorification of witchcraft. It is not just a harmless trend—it is a battle for the souls of many.

We cannot allow the media and celebrities to dictate our beliefs. Instead, we must turn to the Bible, seek God’s truth, and spread awareness about the dangers of these practices. The enemy is using deception to lead people away from Jesus, but we must remember that victory belongs to the Lord.

Now more than ever, we must pray, stay vigilant, and boldly speak out against the rising tide of new age deception. God is calling His people to be set apart, to reject the lies of the enemy, and to stand on His word. Let us not be ashamed of the Gospel but proclaim it fearlessly in a world that desperately needs the truth.
