First Look at BNC Technology’s Platinum Cinema

The day of May 8th couldn't have been more luxurious before the reveal of the private home cinema. BNC Technology set the tone for a fully luxurious experience before and after the showcase. In attendance were PR, media professionals and tech lovers.

You could feel the excitement and the anticipation of experiencing the Platinum Cinema on show that day. The managing director, Nick Caripis, started off by introducing himself and explaining how he first got started in this business. He had the opportunity to train with CEDIA, the Customer Electronic Design and Installation Association, to learn about the science, design, and automation of cinema in line with international standards and regulations.

Years in the making, the R10 million reference-grade installation is designed to set the bar for high-net-worth residential entertainment in South Africa. The event aimed to give guests a fully immersive cinematic experience while highlighting the performance and quiet luxury that can be enjoyed privately with family and friends.

“This cinema is not just a room. It is an experience that captures everything that BNC stands forperformance, precision and quiet luxury,” says Nick Caripis.

Technical Brilliance: The Core of Cinema

Attention to detail is at the forefront when it comes to the elements to create this immersive cinematic experience. The Audiovisual specs are built around a reference guide to advanced digital signal processing to deliver high-resolution sound with clarity. The room itself has been acoustically engineered using advanced treatment and isolation materials, resulting in a highly controlled listening environment, ensuring dialogue clarity and range. This new feat also incorporates a 2026 trend of AVR Renaissance and the use of MicroLED video walls or high-brightness laser projectors.

The Sensory Experience

The first part of the experience is a cosy room that has hardware and speakers that are seamlessly integrated into the design of the room. You can hear the music vibrate through the walls to maintain a minimalistic and clean look.

Nick Caripis showed guests the little parts of the design where things like an expensive bottle of whiskey can be hidden, a space for a popcorn machine and a comfy space to invite guests to relax before the big reveal of the private cinema.

As you enter the private cinema, the design of plush seating and automated ambient lighting syncs well with the content that will be shown. Temperature is maintained at normal levels for comfort. The main event is the big screen with thousands of options for movies and series. The whole room quietly speaks of luxury, comfort and peace.

The showcase was to play 3 clips of popular movies, to give the guests an immersive bubble of sound and depth that pulls the viewers into the story. The speakers are installed in strategic areas that allow the viewer to hear every bang, boom and scream of the movie clips. It is as if you are there, right in the story.

Industry Insights and Research context

With the evolution of cinema, it is not just about watching a movie; BNC Technology offers flexibility for its clients and what they would want to use it for. One of BNC Technology's clients is a cardiologist, who uses the private cinema for his training and says it’s great to get a good look, and it is relaxing.

“We ask our clients what they love, how they live, what is important for them and how they are going to use the room, and then we design a room for them that is based on their needs. Because at the end of the day, we have different tastes, different things that we enjoy and appreciate and every cinema we do is unique,” Nick Caripis.

The professional edge is to ensure the long-term usability and performance of these rooms according to CEDIA designs. The unveiling has shown a blueprint for the future of private entertainment. Turning any room into an unforgettable experience. Private entertainment has evolved from a luxury edition to a “cinematic sanctuary” or a “man cave”, as Nick would put it.
