South Africa has a brand–new queen, and she arrived in absolute style. Qhawe Mazaleni gave us a full fashion journey that celebrated elegance and led to her taking home the Miss South Africa 2025 crown and with her, the nation’s hearts. Our Xhosa princess lit up the night in looks that were bold, meaningful and beautifully curated for her on her special night. With each outfit, she showed us exactly, why the country has fallen in love with her, and we cannot wait to see what she will accomplish during her reign and even the looks she will serve from here on out
The Opening Look

Qhawe opened the night in a breathtaking ensemble created by the African Fashion International’s Fast Track Prize finalists. It was a look that blended tradition and high-fashion drama.
The top was a strapless bodice designed in striking black-and-white geometric patterns. The graphics echoes the very familiar motifs from Xhosa design. From the bodice hung thin, black fringe embellishments that cascaded downward to a beautiful transition into the voluminous skirt; a vibrant red. Near the hemline, the skirt featured multiple horizontal yellow, blue, white and black stripes. These colours, arranged in rhythmic bands. It was a powerful opening statement and beautifully Xhosa
The Power Walk

For a significant part of the evening, Qhawe switched into something sharp and modern; an off-white power suit by NALA PRIVÉ. The suit featured subtle black lining along the lapels and front pockets which gave it some contrast and a very crisp definition. What made this look truly exceptional was the embroidery: gorgeous silver and purple detailing cascading from both shoulders, this added a bit of softness to the structured tailoring. She walked with confidence and purpose in this suit and embodied the energy of a woman ready to reign.
The Swimsuit Category

Designed by Sandi Mazibuko of House of Fabrosanz, Qhawe wore a vibrant, patterned ensemble that mixed a contemporary swimwear silhouette with an African aesthetic. The look featured an asymmetrical top with striking cut-outs, combining periwinkle grey with a bold printed section that ties beautifully into the matching high-slit skirt. The skirt’s geometric and floral patterning brought movement and colour, while the daring slit allowed her to stride with flair. It felt youthful and expressive.
The Crowning

For the crowning moment, Qhawe wore a show stopping David Tlali creation, and it was nothing short of breath-taking. The strapless gown had a sweetheart neckline and an exaggerated peplum that flared dramatically at the hips. From this sculptural peplum, long fringes cascaded toward the floor, over the skirt of the dress, swaying with every movement.

The colour palette was even more meaningful: deep peacock greens and ocean blues with touches of shimmering gold. It is said that the gown symbolised the landscape of her home, Gonubie, East London in the Eastern Cape. The gold representing the sand, and the green and blue stood for the waves and coastline. Seeing her crowned in this beautiful masterpiece felt magical. The crown added the final touch of regality to a look already rich with identity and storytelling.
Qhawe Mazaleni has ushered in a new era for Miss South Africa. One filled with cultural pride unstoppable joy and the fierce need to empower our communities. If her coronation night looks are anything to go by, this reign is going to be unforgettable. We are so excited for what our new queen will bring to the country and to the world.
