Technogym, a global leader in fitness, wellness, health, and sport, has officially launched its first flagship showroom in South Africa. Located in Dunkeld West, Johannesburg, the multi-million-rand, 3,566sqm space serves as a hub for fitness professionals, business operators, and health-conscious individuals to explore the technologies shaping the future of training and wellbeing.

The launch comes at a pivotal moment for South Africa’s growing health and wellness industry. In 2024, Technogym South Africa recorded a 29% increase in new equipment sales and a 58% growth in its Key Account Club segment, underscoring a nationwide shift towards smarter, more connected fitness solutions across both home and commercial sectors.

The new Johannesburg showroom brings the Technogym ecosystem to life, a fully connected environment of smart equipment, digital services, and personalised training solutions. Visitors can experience the brand’s integrated approach to fitness and health, with tailored consultations, live demonstrations, and expert guidance on designing personal or professional training spaces.

For individuals, the showroom offers one-on-one consultations and demonstrations to help create personalised home-gym environments. For business operators, including gyms, hotels, healthcare facilities, property developers, and sports clubs, it acts as a professional resource centre, offering insights, workshops, and ongoing education to help local trainers, physiotherapists, and wellness entrepreneurs stay aligned with global trends.

“South Africa has a growing community of health-conscious consumers and a dynamic fitness industry,” said Tony Payne, co-driving force behind Technogym in Southern Africa alongside his brother, Kevin Payne. “This new space allows us to connect directly with our community and showcase how technology is transforming training, rehabilitation, and overall wellbeing.”

To mark the milestone in the company’s 42-year journey, Technogym’s Founder and President, Nerio Alessandri, attended the Johannesburg launch. He emphasised the brand’s AI-driven innovation strategy and the strategic role of South Africa in Technogym’s international expansion.

“Over the years, we have developed a unique ecosystem that offers people personalised training experiences for fitness, health, and sport,” said Alessandri. “Today, Technogym is a Life Science company capable of scientifically prescribing exercise programmes based on data and AI. This allows us to make health prevention accessible, measurable, and impactful for individuals and communities and South Africa is no exception.”

Founded in 1983 by Alessandri at the age of 22, Technogym began in a garage and has since evolved into a global movement built on a mission to help people live healthier, longer lives through regular exercise. Over four decades, the company has pioneered countless innovations, from biomechanics and digital connectivity to AI-driven personalisation, and remains the Official Supplier to the Olympic Games, a partnership that has endured since Sydney 2000.

“Beneath the sleek surfaces of our treadmills, bikes, and strength machines, AI and smart technology work seamlessly to optimise every movement, heartbeat, and outcome,” added Kevin Payne. “Our Johannesburg showroom represents a new chapter for Technogym’s investment in Africa, bringing world-class innovation closer to local businesses and consumers.”

The Technogym Johannesburg Showroom is open Monday to Friday, 08h00–17h00, and Saturday, 09h00–13h00, at 8 Eastwood Road, Corner Jan Smuts Avenue, Dunkeld West, Johannesburg.
